Baby food shower game: set up the jars

Choose single-flavor jars from the three Host's key sheets, which run from easy flavors to look-alike pairs to meats. Cover or peel the labels, number each jar underneath and write that number beside its flavor on the key.

Choose the sheet that matches your jar count and press Print blank sheet, one copy a guest. 10 jars with a word bank prints every flavor on our list under the lines, for a gentler game. Guests look and smell first. Tasting is optional.

Tips
  • Pear beside apple and squash beside sweet potato are the pairs to set side by side for a hard round.
  • Keep the labels. A guest who asks can read a jar's ingredients before tasting.

Questions and answers

How do you play guess the baby food?

The host sets out numbered jars of baby food with the labels hidden. Guests look, smell and, if they like, taste, then write a flavor beside each number. The host reads the key, and the most right answers wins.

How many jars do you need?

The sheets here hold 8, 10 or 12, and the page opens on 10. Those sizes are our own choice: the game is a folk game with no official rules.

Do guests have to taste the baby food?

No. The rules printed under the sheet say tasting is optional, and a guest may guess every jar by looking and smelling. The word-bank sheet helps guests who only look.

Which baby food flavors are on the list?

Eight fruits, eight vegetables and seven meats, each a single flavor: from banana, carrot and pea to look-alike pairs such as apple and pear, then beef, chicken, ham, lamb, pork, turkey and veal. The order from easy to hard is our own judgment.

How this list was compiled: Written by the Game Night Generator editors on 2026-10-02. The game is a folk game with no governing body and no standard sheet, so the layouts, the sizes and the scoring are the editors' own, and the page says so. No brand name is on any list. The host's key names 23 single-flavor baby foods by ingredient only: 8 fruits, 8 vegetables and 7 meats. Each was checked on 2026-10-02 against the baby food entries of the Standard Reference Legacy data in USDA FoodData Central (https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/), a public-domain database of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where each is listed as a baby food of that one fruit, vegetable or meat, strained or junior in all but one case (some fruit entries add tapioca, the apple entry is applesauce, the mango entry is a fruit dessert with tapioca, and the corn and spinach entries are creamed). Sorting them into easy flavors, look-alike pairs and meats is the editors' judgment and not from that source. The rules in the key are a host's rules for a party game; nothing here is advice on feeding a baby. Licence: own work
