In the room: a baby bodysuit 1 point. The one-piece kind with snaps at the bottom.
In the room: a baby bottle 1 point. Look among the glasses and the vases.
In the room: a baby bowl with a suction base 3 points. It sticks to a window or a tile as well as to a table.
In the room: a baby hairbrush 3 points. Palm sized, with very soft bristles.
In the room: a baby hat 2 points. Possibly on something that is not a baby.
In the room: a baby spoon 3 points. Short, with a soft tip. Check the cutlery.
In the room: a bath thermometer 5 points. It floats, and it is often shaped like an animal. Say what it is for to claim it.
In the room: a bib 1 point. Often tied to a chair back.
In the room: a board book 2 points. Thick card pages. Check the shelves of grown-up books.
In the room: a bottle brush 3 points. Check the jar of kitchen utensils.

At the shower: a balloon that has come loose 2 points. Only if one has. Do not help it along.
At the shower: a diaper cake or a towel cake 3 points. Look only. Somebody rolled every one of those.
At the shower: a food on the table that is a smaller version of itself 2 points. Mini sandwiches, mini cupcakes, baby carrots.
At the shower: a gift bag with an animal on it 1 point. Look, do not open.
At the shower: a handmade gift 3 points. Knitted, sewn, baked or built. The maker confirms it.
At the shower: a number in the room that matches the day of the due date 3 points. A clock face, a book spine, a calendar. The host announces the day.
At the shower: a photo of the parents-to-be on display 1 point. On a wall, a shelf or the welcome sign.
At the shower: a plant with a new leaf or bud 2 points. New growth, to suit the day.
At the shower: a ribbon curled with scissors 1 point. On a gift or a balloon string.

Find a guest who can do an animal noise fit for a bedtime story 2 points. You pick the animal. The nearest three guests judge.
Find a guest who can name three picture books without pausing 2 points. Any three. You are the judge of the pause.
Find a guest who can recite a whole nursery rhyme 2 points. Start to finish, no skipped lines.
Find a guest who can say baby in three languages 3 points. English counts as one.
Find a guest who can swaddle a stuffed animal in a napkin 5 points. The host judges whether the bear could wriggle out.
Find a guest who got here the same way you did 1 point. Car, bus, train, bike or on foot. Sharing a ride counts.
Find a guest who has a baby photo of themselves with them 3 points. On paper or on a phone.
Find a guest who has already offered to babysit 2 points. A promise made at this party counts, and the host may write it down.
Find a guest who is wearing something handmade 3 points. Jewelry, knitwear or a bag. The wearer confirms it.
Find a guest who is wearing yellow or green 1 point. Any shade, any item.
Find a guest who knew the guest of honor before the age of ten 3 points. School friends, cousins and siblings all count.
Find a guest who knows the birthstone or the flower of the due month 5 points. The host looks it up to check.
Find a guest who knows what their own first word was 3 points. They tell you the word. Family legend counts as proof.
Find a guest who still owns a toy from their own childhood 2 points. They name the toy. It does not have to be in the room.
Find a guest who will sing you the first verse of a lullaby 3 points. Sung, not spoken, to you alone or to the room. Their choice.
Find a guest who wrapped their gift themselves 1 point. A gift bag does not count as wrapping.
Find a guest whose birthday is in the same month as the due date 3 points. The host announces the month. The guest initials your sheet.
Find a guest with a middle name they are happy to share 1 point. Write it down for the parents-to-be. No obligation.
Find a guest with the same first initial as you 2 points. First names only.
Find a guest with the same number of brothers and sisters as you 2 points. Compare numbers, then initial each other's sheets.
Find one guest who is an oldest child and one who is a youngest 2 points. Two sets of initials. An only child can sign for either.
Find the guest who traveled farthest to be here 2 points. Ask around. One guest can initial several sheets.
Find two guests who met for the first time today 2 points. Both initial your sheet. Introducing them yourself counts.

Run the bag hunt from one phone

The menu under the button opens on In your bag: everyday, 22 things most guests carry. Read each line aloud and guests hold the item up. Say first whether only the first hand scores. Close with In your bag: long shots, such as earplugs for 5 points. At a seated shower, Print one list per table.

Hide the room hunt the night before

Choose Hidden around the room and draw until the list holds what you own or can borrow. Hide small things among look-alikes: the baby spoon in the cutlery, the board book on a shelf. Keep everything in plain sight and below shoulder height, so nobody opens a drawer. No props? Spot it at the shower needs none: a loose balloon, a diaper cake.

Questions and answers

How is the bag hunt scored?

Every line carries 1, 2, 3 or 5 points, and the tally adds up a guest's ticks. Values follow how rare a find is: lip balm scores 1, a rubber duck 5. For a gentle round, press Up to 2 points under More filters.

Does it work for a co-ed or office shower?

Yes. No line asks a guest about their body, pregnancy, fertility, age or whether they have children, and none assumes the baby's sex. A bag can be a backpack or a jacket pocket. At work, pair the phone list with Find a guest.

How many items should I print?

Ten for a round between cake and presents, twenty for the main game, 30 for a long printed hunt. Add another at the end of the list and the × on a row set it.

Every line was screened against the site's rules: no line asks a guest about their body, pregnancy, fertility, age or whether they have children (the bag and phone lists score what a guest happens to carry, and a few of those things, such as a child's sock, turn up more often in a parent's bag); nothing that assumes the baby's sex or that the guests are all women; nothing bought, nothing taken from a wrapped gift, no drinking, and guest tasks that any guest may decline.
