Scoring key

Run: A, 10, K, Q, J of trump 150
Its king and queen are not scored again as a royal marriage. Some tables score 190 with an extra king or queen of trump.
Double run: all ten trump run cards 1,500
Ten times a single run, not twice.
Royal marriage: K and Q of trump 40
Twice a marriage in any other suit.
Common marriage: K and Q of a plain suit 20
Two in one suit need both kings and both queens.
Dix: each 9 of trump 10

One card can work in one meld of each class
Runs, marriages and dix are one class, pinochles a second, arounds a third. No card sits in two melds of one class.
Bid made: meld plus trick points reach the bid
Both teams add all they made. Bid 300, meld 120, tricks 190 score 310. Double deck: bid 55, meld 24, tricks 33 score 57.
Set: the bidders lose the amount of the bid minus bid
They score no meld and no tricks, and the bid comes off their total, even below zero. The other team scores as usual.
Trick points: ace, ten and king count 10 each 250
The last trick adds 10, so both Tricks boxes of a hand come to 250. The older 11-10-4-3-2 count also makes 250.
No trick points: the other team's meld is lost
Non-bidders with no counters and not the last trick score no meld: type 0 for Meld. Some tables still count their dix.
Hand thrown in: no tricks are played
Bidders may give up before play: they lose the bid, the other team scores its meld, and both type 0 under Tricks.
Single-deck bids open at 250 and rise in tens 250
The dealer is stuck at the minimum if the other three pass. Some tables open at 150 or 190: agree first.
First side to 1,500 wins, and bidders win a tie 1,500
If both sides pass 1,500 in one hand, the bidding side wins. Some tables play to 1,000.

Pinochle Score Sheet With a Meld Table and Set Bids: how it works

This free pinochle score sheet takes three numbers a hand: the bid, the meld and the points won in tricks. When the bidding side's meld and tricks reach the bid, both count. When they fall short, the sheet takes the bid off and scores nothing else. It keeps a running total to 1,500 and prints the meld table underneath.

Score a hand in three boxes

Rename the two headings with your team names. The side that won the auction types its bid under Bid, and the other team leaves that box empty. Each team then types the meld it showed and, after the last trick, its trick points. A bid of 300 with 120 in meld and 190 in tricks scores 310. Fall short and the hand scores minus 300.

Meld values and the 250 check

The key lists every meld, from 10 for a dix, the 9 of trump, to 1,500 for a double run. A pinochle is 40, but a double pinochle is 300, not 80. Aces, tens and kings count 10 each in tricks and the last trick adds 10, so the two Tricks boxes of a played hand come to 250. If they do not, recount before the next deal.

  • Playing with 80 cards? Switch to Double deck: partners to 500. A run is 15 there, the tricks of a hand come to 50 and bids open at 50.
  • When the bidders throw in a hand, type their bid and meld, then 0 under Tricks for both teams. They lose the bid and the other team scores its meld alone.

Is this pinochle score sheet printable?

Yes. Print blank sheet gives you an empty pad to fill in by pen, and Print this game prints the hands you have typed with names and totals. Both fit Letter and A4. For a file, choose Save as PDF in the print window.

What happens when a team goes set?

The bidding side scores nothing for its meld or tricks that hand, and the bid comes off its total, so a score can drop below zero. The other team still adds its own meld and tricks. The Bids set so far row counts how often it has happened.

What is the minimum bid in pinochle?

In the four-player single-deck rules we checked it is 250, rising in tens, and the dealer is stuck with 250 if the other three pass. Some tables open at 150 or 190. The Bid box flags anything under 150 and still keeps it.
