Scoring key

Each heart taken in a trick 1: Thirteen hearts, one point apiece. Points are bad: the lowest total wins.
The queen of spades 13: Worth as much as all the hearts together. Wikipedia dates her to a 1909 variant that became the standard American game.
Every hearts hand comes to 26 26: 13 hearts plus 13 for the queen. If the line does not come to 26, someone miscounted.
Shooting the moon: all 14 penalty cards -26 or +26: The shooter takes 26 off, or adds 26 to every other player. Some tables let the shooter choose; settle it first.
Moon that would hand someone else the win: One variant on pagat.com: the others add 26 unless that would make one of them win; then the shooter subtracts.
Game over at 100, checked after the hand 100: Nobody goes out in the middle of a hand. Finish it, add it, and the lowest total wins.
Landing on exactly 100 50 or 0: A house rule at some tables: a total of exactly 100 drops to 50, or to zero.
Shooting the sun: all 13 tricks 52: Some tables score it as 52, handled like a moon. The sheet accepts 52 and minus 52.
Passing: left, right, across, hold: Three cards before each hand, in a four-hand cycle. With three or five players there is no across: left, right, hold.
Longest four-player game: 16 hands 16: Our sum: 15 hands can leave four players on 390, all under 100. At 416 after 16 someone is out, unless a moon came off.
Breaking hearts: The 2 of clubs leads the first trick. No heart may be led until one has been discarded, unless you hold only hearts.

Classic hearts to 100 2

Hearts hand One line per hand: a point for each heart you took, plus 13 if you took the queen of spades. When every player has typed a score the sheet adds the line across the table. It should come to 26, to 26 for each other player when a moon is added, or to minus 26 when the shooter takes it off.
Hearts total, lowest wins once someone has 100 Every hand added together. The game ends at the end of the hand in which any player reaches or passes 100, and the lowest total wins. If the low scores are tied, play on.

Omnibus hearts 2

Omnibus hand, jack of diamonds takes off 10 Count hearts and the queen of spades as usual, then take 10 off if the jack of diamonds is in your tricks. A plain hand comes to 16 across the table. A moon still needs all 13 hearts and the queen, and the 10 comes off whoever holds the jack, shooter or not.
Omnibus total, lowest wins once someone has 100 Every omnibus hand added together. A total can sit below zero for a player who keeps catching the jack.

Spot hearts 2

Spot hearts hand, hearts at face value Add the pips of the hearts you took: 2 to 10 as printed, jack 11, queen 12, king 13, ace 14. The queen of spades adds 25. A hand comes to 129 across the table. The box flags 1 and 128, the only totals up to 129 that no set of these cards can make.
Spot hearts total, lowest wins at 500 Every spot hearts hand added together. Scores climb about five times as fast as in the classic game, so the target is higher: 500 is the figure pagat.com suggests.

Breaking hearts The 2 of clubs leads the first trick. No heart may be led until one has been discarded, unless you hold only hearts.

Spot hearts: every hand comes to 129 Hearts 2 to 10 at face value, jack 11, queen 12, king 13, ace 14: 104. The queen of spades is 25.
Three, five or six players Rules differ. pagat.com deals three players 17 each, or five players 10 each, and gives the spare cards to whoever wins the first trick, or else removes the 2 of diamonds (and the 2 of clubs with five). Wikipedia removes the 2 of clubs for three, the 2 of clubs and 2 of diamonds for five, and those two with the 3 of clubs and 2 of spades for six. No penalty card is ever removed, so a hand still comes to 26.

How this list was compiled: Written for this site. Hearts is a traditional game with no governing rule book, so the sheets score the commonest rules and the key says where tables differ. How it works

This hearts score sheet gives each hand a line and each player a column. Type what everyone took and the sheet adds the line across the table. It should come to 26: 13 hearts at a point each, plus 13 for the queen of spades.

Fill in one line per hand

Type each name over Player 1 to 4. The Four players to 100 sheet prints the pass on every line: left, right, across, then no pass. After the last trick each player counts hearts, adds 13 for the queen and types the sum. The × at the end of a line takes a spare one off. For three, five or six players, pick 3, 5 or 6 players to 100 in the Sheet menu. It opens with three columns, and the + after the last one adds more. A number no hand can produce, such as 27, gets a ! and still counts.

Shooting the moon and the 26 check

Taking all 13 hearts and the queen is shooting the moon. Type 0 for the shooter and 26 for everyone else, or minus 26 for the shooter and 0 for the rest. The sheet accepts a line that adds to 26, to 26 for each other player, or to minus 26, and marks the rest. At 100 the sheet calls the game over and the lowest total wins. New game clears the scores and keeps the names. Undo brings them back.

Questions and answers

How many points is the queen of spades worth in hearts?

13, as much as every heart together, so a hand adds to 26. In spot hearts she counts 25 and each heart its face value, with the jack 11, queen 12, king 13 and ace 14. That hand adds to 129, which the Spot hearts to 500 sheet checks.

Does shooting the moon always add 26 to everyone else?

No. pagat.com lists tables where the shooter chooses, where 26 always comes off the shooter, and where the others always add 26.

How do you score hearts with three or five players?

The same way: no penalty card leaves the pack, so a hand still adds to 26. pagat.com deals three players 17 each, or five players 10 each, and the spare cards go to the first trick's winner. Wikipedia removes the 2 of clubs for three, plus the 2 of diamonds for five.
