How it works

Get to know you bingo for kids is a find someone who game: 96 squares, such as can whistle and has slept in a blanket fort. Classmates sign the square that fits them, and four signatures in a line win.

How classmate bingo works

Use it with a class, club or party where everyone already belongs. Give each child a card and a pencil. They walk the room, ask the questions and collect a signature in each square from someone it fits: one signature per person per card, and nobody signs their own. First full row, column or diagonal wins.

Get to know you bingo for students, by age

All 96 squares suit ages 9 to 12. For ages 6 to 8, the teacher picks Quick finds, ages 6 to 8 or Likes and favorites, ages 6 to 8 in Ready-made list: 24 short-worded squares each, plenty for the 4 × 4 card. Set How many cards to the class size, up to 60, and print.

  • Play student bingo in the first week of school, before seats and friend groups have settled.
  • A teacher can press Enter after any square and type one that fits several children: knows our class song, not is new this year.
  • For a no-pencil version, press Call the game and read each square aloud: everyone it fits stands up.

Questions and answers

What are good human bingo questions for students?

Ones any child can answer yes to without giving away anything private: can whistle, can draw a star, has read a whole book series. This list leaves out family, money, addresses, bodies, religion, crushes and phones, so no child is put on the spot.

How many squares can one classmate sign?

One per card. On the 4 × 4 card a line then takes four different classmates, so everyone moves. With fewer than 10 children, allow two signatures each, or switch Grid to 3 × 3, where the free center reads Sign it yourself.

Is there a student bingo ice breaker PDF?

Yes, through your browser. Press Print 4 cards (the button follows your count) and choose Save as PDF in the print window. Every card in the set goes into one file, one to a page, with room in each square for a name.

Can a teacher start from a blank card?

Yes. Press Empty the list, then the print button, for blank 4 × 4 cards to fill in by hand. To write every square yourself, type 16 or more lines, one per square, never a child's name. Number cards are on the bingo card generator.

How this list was compiled: Own work: 96 'find someone who' squares written for children, 24 in each of four groups, in blocks: two groups in short words for ages 6 to 8 (lines 1 to 48) and two for ages 9 to 12 (lines 49 to 96), so that any one group alone fills a 5 x 5 card with a free center. Child-safe by rule: every square asks about something a child can do, likes or has done, and none asks about family make-up, money, addresses, bodies or looks, religion, crushes, phones or social accounts. Squares that stand in for where a family comes from or what it can afford were reworded or left out: a square about the language spoken at home became 'Can say hello in 3 languages', a square about where a child was born became 'Has visited another state', and there is nothing about flights, vacations, lessons that cost money, lunches or who lives at home. 'Has a loose tooth' and 'Is wearing something green' are the only squares about what can be seen on a child, and both are things that change by the day. Screened against the site blocklist (nothing sexual, no alcohol or drugs, no self-harm, no strangers, no phones, no risky food, nothing illegal). No square repeats a square of this site's human bingo, which is written for adult mixers, and none of its wordings was adapted. The lines beside some squares are our what-counts rules.
