Call the clue, not the word
Every story square has a clue checked against the World English Bible, with its chapter. Press Call the next one and the clue shows under the word drawn. Read the clue and let the class find the square: ravens brought him bread and meat by a brook is Elijah. Nothing is drawn until a grown-up presses, so there is time to look the chapter up.
A books of the Bible bingo printable
For books only, a grown-up picks Old Testament books or New Testament books in Ready-made list. Each book's clue gives its number, testament and chapter count: call book 32 of 66, Old Testament, 4 chapters, and the room works out Jonah. With all 126 squares, about half of each card is book names.
For ages five to seven, switch Grid to 3 × 3: ten players had a winner after about 17 calls in our simulated games, not 42.
Deuteronomy and Thessalonians are long words. Pair new readers with older children and count to five after every call.
Ask the winner to read the line back and say one thing about each square. Paper scraps as markers make one printing last all term.

Is there a Bible bingo printable PDF?
Yes. Set How many cards, press the print button and pick Save as PDF in your browser's print window. Only the cards print, two to a page, each with a card number at the foot. A set holds up to 60, no two alike.
Why does a clue say ship when my Bible says ark?
The clues follow the World English Bible: Noah's ark is a ship, Joseph's coat a tunic of many colors, the manger a feeding trough. The squares keep the words children know. The cards hold its 66 books without the Apocrypha, so no Tobit or Judith.
Can I use this as a Bible bingo template for my own lesson?
Yes. A grown-up presses Empty the list and types the lesson's words, one per line; 24 fill a 5 × 5 card. Or pick one list, such as People, in Ready-made list. Typed words have no clue. Children are asked for nothing.
