Bible Bingo for Kids: 66 Books, 60 People, Places and Things: how it works

Press New set of 4 cards and the page deals Bible bingo for kids: four cards, no two alike, from 126 squares. All 66 books of the Bible are in the pool, beside 60 people, places and things from its best-known stories, such as Noah's ark, Queen Esther and the lost sheep. Print the cards, then press Call the game.

Call the clue, not the word

Every story square in the list below has a clue checked against the World English Bible, with the chapter it comes from. Read the clue and let the class find the square: ravens brought him bread and meat by a brook sends everyone hunting for Elijah. The winner reads the line back and tells one thing about each square in it. Nothing is drawn until a grown-up presses Call the next one, so there is time to open a Bible to the chapter named.

A books of the Bible bingo printable in every set

All 66 books are in the pool, so about half the squares on a card are book names: 12 or 13 of the 24 on average. Beside each book the list gives its number, its testament and its chapter count. Call book 32 of 66, Old Testament, 4 chapters, and the room works out Jonah. A class learning the order can name the books before and after each one called.

Tips

  • For ages five to seven, switch Grid to 3 × 3. In our simulated games ten players had a winner after about 17 calls on nine squares, against about 42 on the 5 × 5 card.
  • Deuteronomy and Thessalonians are long words even for a strong reader. Pair each new reader with an older child and count to five after every call.
  • Mark with dried beans or scraps of paper in place of pens, and one printing lasts the whole term.

Questions and answers

Is there a Bible bingo printable PDF?

Set How many cards, press the print button and pick Save as PDF as the destination in your browser's print window. Only the cards print, two to a page, each with its title and a small card number at the foot. A set holds up to 60 cards, no two alike, so one file covers a large class.

Why does a clue say ship when my Bible says ark?

The clues follow the World English Bible, a public domain translation. It calls Noah's ark a ship, Joseph's coat a tunic of many colors, the manger a feeding trough and Jonah's great fish a huge fish. The squares keep the words most children know, and the clue notes the difference. The 66 books are its edition without the Apocrypha, so Tobit and Judith are not on the cards.

Is this a Bible bingo template we can reuse every week?

  • Palm branches The crowd carried them out to meet Jesus at Jerusalem. John 12.
  • Rainbow Set in the cloud as the sign of a promise. Genesis 9.
  • Sling David carried one, with five smooth stones from the brook. 1 Samuel 17.
  • Star Wise men saw it in the east and came to find a newborn king. Matthew 2.
  • Ten Commandments Written on two stone tablets. Exodus 34.
