How it works

These glow in the dark scavenger hunt clues come with their hiding places: a glow stick goes where each clue points. Four more groups are finds for a dim room, a yard at dusk, teams, and under-eights with an adult.

Hide, then hand out the clues

The page opens on Clues to hidden glow sticks. The note under each clue is the hiding place, so press Hide all notes before you print the hunters' copy. Bend the sticks to start them just before the hunt, because a glow stick cannot be switched off.

Room, yard or both

The menu under the button switches to Finds for a dim room or Finds for a yard at dusk. Those need a flashlight each and nothing hidden. Mark the edge of the yard with glow sticks first, and keep an adult in sight of every team.

Tips
  • For under-eights with an adult needs no reading: matching colors, the biggest light in view, a path of glowing dots.

Questions and answers

How do you set up a glow in the dark scavenger hunt?

Print the clue list twice, once with notes for the host and once without. Hide a glow stick at each place the notes name, mark the boundary with more sticks, and send teams out with a flashlight each.

What makes a good clue for a hidden glow stick?

A short riddle that points at one thing a child can reach: "Shoes sleep in me, but I have no feet" for the shoe rack, "I am a bucket standing on my head" for an upturned bucket. Each clue's note names the hiding place.

What if there is no yard?

Stay indoors. Every clue's hiding place can be set up inside, and Finds for a dim room needs only a flashlight and a room with the lamps low: shadows, reflections, standby dots and things that glow by themselves.

How this list was compiled: Written for this site by the Game Night Generator editors on 2026-10-03: original clues and finds for a glow in the dark scavenger hunt in a dim room or a yard at dusk, each with a hiding place or a line that says what counts. Own work; nothing was copied from another list. Every task is for the hunter's own team: nothing is bought or taken, nobody climbs, digs or leaves the marked boundary, and children hunt with an adult in sight. Two facts are stated, each read on 2026-10-03: a glow stick cannot be switched off once it is started (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glow_stick), and a glow-in-the-dark material takes in light and gives it back slowly after the light is gone (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphorescence).
