Scoring key

Type the round, not the running score
Each box takes what was scored in that round. The score so far is worked out under it, so nobody adds in their head.
A round that loses points -5
Type a minus sign in front of the number. The running score drops by that much.
A game scored once, at the end
Use one line for each thing the game counts at the end, such as cards kept, coins and bonuses. On paper, write what the line stands for beside its number.
Teams or partners
Give each team one column and type the team's name, or both partners' names, in the box at the top.
Level at the end
The rule book of the game usually names a tiebreaker. Where it names none, share the win or play one more round.
Playing to a target
Say the winning score before the first round and write it at the top of the paper. The sheet adds; it does not know your game's target.

Names and scores stay in this browser. New game clears the scores.

All 11 lines

Points by round 2

  • Final score: every round added All the rounds on the sheet added together. Which end of the table wins depends on the sheet: the highest total on one, the lowest on the other.
  • Round score One line for each round, turn or hand of the game. Type what the player scored in that round alone; a round that costs points takes a minus sign.

Games won 2

  • Game played One line for each game of the night. The winner's box takes a 1 or an x and the other boxes stay empty.
  • Games won tonight The marks down each column added up.

Keeping score in any game 7

  • A game scored once, at the end Use one line for each thing the game counts at the end, such as cards kept, coins and bonuses. On paper, write what the line stands for beside its number.
  • A game with a winner and no points Pick the sheet that counts games won: a line for each game played, with a mark in the winner's box.
  • A round that loses points Type a minus sign in front of the number. The running score drops by that much.
  • Level at the end The rule book of the game usually names a tiebreaker. Where it names none, share the win or play one more round.
  • Playing to a target Say the winning score before the first round and write it at the top of the paper. The sheet adds; it does not know your game's target.
  • Teams or partners Give each team one column and type the team's name, or both partners' names, in the box at the top.
  • Type the round, not the running score Each box takes what was scored in that round. The score so far is worked out under it, so nobody adds in their head.

How it works

This game scorecard is a blank board game score sheet for any game with no pad of its own. Type a name over each column and one number a round, and each player's score so far appears under the round.

One number a round

Type a name over Player 1 to Player 4, then after each round what that player scored in it. A round that loses points takes a minus sign. The score so far shows under every box and the total in the last row, and the line under the sheet says who leads. Playing an eleventh round? Add a round gives the line.

Low score wins, or no points at all

Where the lowest total wins, pick Fewest points wins and the sheet names the low score as the leader. For a game with a winner and no points, Games won, no points has a line for each game played: a 1 or an x goes in the winner's box.

Questions and answers

How do I make a score sheet for a game?

Give each player a column and each round a line, with a total under the last line. This page draws that sheet: set the players and the rounds your game needs, then print it blank or keep score on screen.

Can I use this scorecard for card and dice games?

Yes. Any game scored in rounds, hands or turns fits, with one number for each player each round. Games with scoring of their own, such as spades, farkle or yacht dice, have a sheet here with their rows and rules on it.

How many players fit on the scorecard?

Eight. The sheet opens with four columns and the plus after the last name adds up to four more. For a solo game, take the columns down to one. Teams take one column each.
