How it works

These safari baby shower games are three sheets to print and a list of party games. Guests write what a baby zebra is called, name a group of giraffes, or unscramble safari words. The sheets print plain, with no pictures.

Print one sheet for each guest

The page opens on Safari babies. Press Print this list: each animal prints with a line to write on and a box to tick, and the answers print on a last page, which you can leave out of the guests' copies. For another sheet, open the box under the button and choose Herd names, Safari word scramble or Safari party games. On All rows, Pick 15 new rows deals a mix of the four.

Jungle theme baby shower games from the same sheets

A jungle theme uses the same animals, so these sheets fit it as they are. Safari party games is the host's list: 15 classics played with safari props, such as a binocular hunt and feed the hippo. It has no answers.

Tips
  • Many herd names are playful and rarely used in practice. Count herd as right wherever the answer page lists it.

Questions and answers

What is a baby zebra called?

A foal, like a young horse. A young male is a colt and a young female a filly. On the same sheet the baby giraffe, elephant, hippopotamus and rhinoceros are all calves, and the baby crocodile is a hatchling.

What is a group of giraffes called?

A tower. Wikipedia's list of animal names also gives corps and herd. Zebras make a dazzle, rhinoceroses a crash and flamingos a flamboyance. All twelve are on the Herd names sheet.

Is there an animal pregnancy game to go with these?

Yes, on a page of its own. The animal pregnancy baby shower game asks how long a giraffe, an elephant and 34 more animals are pregnant, and prints with an answer key.

Do the sheets have safari pictures?

No. They print plain, black on white: the title, the rules and a line for each answer. The theme is in the animals and the words, so the sheets sit beside any safari or jungle decorations.

How this list was compiled: Own work. The Game Night Generator editors wrote four lists on the animals of the African savanna: 15 animals and the name of their young, 12 animals and the word for a group of them, 15 safari words given ready-scrambled, and 15 party games played with safari props. On 2 October 2026 each young name and each group name was read in the table of Wikipedia's List of animal names (text under CC BY-SA 4.0); the ostrich and the warthog, which that table does not list, were read in the Wikipedia article on the animal, and so was the meerkat: the answer page gives the article's word, pup, and adds the table's, meerkitten. That list says of group names that many are playful and little used in practice, so the answer page gives the best-known word first and names the others the list holds. Each scramble word and its short meaning was read the same day in the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, fifth edition. The party games are the editors' own versions of classic games, each named after the classic it is built on; they are not facts and have no source. No animal of the first list is asked on this site's baby animals game page. Licence: own work
