How it works

These 150 sleepover questions are written for 8-to-14-year-olds to ask each other, in five rounds that follow the night from first snack to lights-out. No card asks about a crush, a secret or anyone who is not in the room.

Five rounds, in the order of the night

Under Round, press 1. Warm-up favorites while the snacks are out: 30 quick cards about pizza, pajamas and playlists. 2. Who in this room asks for a pick and a reason. 3. Funny confessions is for when everyone has the giggles: what have you blamed on the dog, the cat or the wind? Keep 4. Spooky, but mild and 5. Dreams and plans for after lights-out.

Two rules that keep it fun

Anyone can say pass, and nobody asks why. In round 2, pick someone new each time until everyone has been picked once. Easy (62 cards) takes a few words, Medium (71) asks for a short story and Hard (17) needs a think or a little nerve.

Tips
  • No phones after lights-out? Earlier in the day, press round 4 or 5, then Print questions, and put the 30 slips in a bowl.
  • The spooky round has no blood, injuries or intruders: friendly ghosts, odd noises and a vampire who is afraid of the dark.
  • Someone new to the group? Stay in round 1 longer. Favorites need no shared history, and the follow-up gives a quiet guest a second turn.

Questions and answers

What are good questions to ask at sleepovers?

Ones everybody in the room can answer and nobody is embarrassed by. Try What do you always pack for a sleepover and never use? or What would a ghost at a sleepover complain about? Both get a story out of a quiet guest.

Are there any crush, dare or secret questions?

No. No card asks who anyone likes, asks for a secret or sets a dare, and none is about phones, strangers or a person who is not in the room. Every Who in this room card asks for a pick that is a compliment.

What ages are the questions for?

Eight to fourteen. The cards assume school, friends and a sleepover or two behind you, and only the person holding the phone has to read. For under-eights use the kids deck linked below; thirteen and up can add the teens deck.

Will the same question come up twice?

Not until every card has been seen. No repeats tonight, under More options, is on from the start, and this phone remembers the cards it has shown, so the next sleepover gets new ones. Press Start over to bring every card back.

How this list was compiled

Written by the Game Night Generator editors for this page in September 2026; own work. 150 open questions for a sleepover of 8-to-14-year-olds, in five rounds of 30 ordered through the evening. Screened against the site's clean-deck rule and this page's own: no crush, kissing or dating card, no dare, no card that asks for a secret, nothing about phones, strangers, clothing or risky food, and no card about a person who is not in the room. Every Who in this room card asks for a pick that is a compliment or neutral; none asks who is worst, slowest, messiest or least likely. The spooky round holds no blood, injury, death or intruder. The deck prints no fact, so nothing needed an outside source. On 2026-09-20 every question was compared by script with every other question deck on this site and by hand with the never-have-i-ever decks for kids and teens; about 45 first drafts that matched or repeated an idea found elsewhere were replaced.
