Questions and answers

Which books of the Bible tell the Easter story?

All four Gospels: Matthew 21 to 28, Mark 11 to 16, Luke 19 to 24 and John 12 to 21. Acts 1 tells of the forty days and the ascension.

Are these Easter Bible trivia questions for one church?

No. Every answer is read from the King James text of the Gospels or Acts. Nothing asks about a church's calendar, customs or teaching.

Do the four Gospels tell it the same way?

Not in every detail, and some reasons say which Gospel says what: John alone speaks of palm branches, Luke alone of Herod, and the robe is scarlet in Matthew and purple in Mark and John.

How is the crucifixion asked about?

Plainly and briefly: who, where and at what hour, in the words of the text. The round names Golgotha, the title in three languages and the darkness from the sixth hour, and describes no suffering.

Can I print the questions with an answer key?

Yes. After a set of ten, Print question sheet prints 20 questions with lettered choices and no answers marked. Print answer key, under More options, prints the right letters with each reason and verse.

How this list was compiled

Written for this site by the editors; nothing was copied from another quiz or list. Each answer was read on 2026-10-02 at the verse named beside it in the King James Version (the standard text of 1769, public domain) as published at ebible.org (https://ebible.org/eng-kjv/), and the same verse was read in the World English Bible (public domain, https://ebible.org/eng-web/). Names and quoted words follow the King James text, and other translations word many of these verses differently. Only what the text says is asked: no question turns on doctrine, on one church's teaching or on the date of an event. The rounds follow the order of the days in Matthew 21 to 28, Mark 11 to 16, Luke 19 to 24, John 12 to 21 and Acts 1. Where the four accounts differ, the reason says which Gospel says what, and each statement of that kind was checked in the Gospel it names. No question is asked about the church calendar or about any custom. Levels are an editor's judgment. A second reader compared every answer with the same verses in both texts on 2026-10-03.
