Twelve sovereign countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. French Guiana, on the mainland, is a territory of France.

Which country has English as its official language? Under which title are Bolívar and San Martín remembered? What is mate? The answers are Guyana, Libertadores and a brewed herb.

How were the answers checked?

Each was read on October 3, 2026 in the Wikipedia article South America, linked under the question. Population and farm rankings, living people, soccer, wine and the islands whose ownership is disputed are left out, with the waterfalls, deserts and ruins that other packs ask.

Yes. The Brazil pack asks about the name, the rainforest, the empire and the republic, so this one touches Brazil only where the continent's story needs it: Uruguay's origin, the Ragamuffin War and the two World Wars.
