From Siam to the Big Mango

The name and the map asks what Thai is taken to mean and which birds gave Doi Inthanon its old name. Rivers, islands and Bangkok has the Menam, Junk Ceylon and the two languages behind the capital's ceremonial name. Sukhothai, Lan Na and Ayutthaya and Thonburi and the Chakri kings keep to dated facts: 1238, 1511, 1767, 1782 and the eclipse King Mongkut predicted for 1868.
