How to run put them in order trivia questions

Read the card twice, slowly. Each team writes all four things in order on a slip and hands it in before anyone speaks. Press Show answer and read the order out.

Four kinds of order

By date: buildings, voyages and events, oldest first. By size or number: planets, oceans, legs and strings, smallest first. On the map: cities from north to south or west to east. In their natural order: the layers of the Earth, tempo markings, the ranks of living things. Inventions by date are a separate page, which came first.

  • With put these in order trivia questions, teams can jot the four things down as you read, then number them 1 to 4.
  • No slip can have exactly three right: one thing out of place always pushes out another.

Questions and answers

How do you score trivia questions put in order?

Two ways. Strict: a point only when all four are in the right order. Kind: a point for each thing in its right place, so one swap still scores two. Agree on one before the first card.

What is a put in order trivia question?

A question whose answer is a sequence. The card names four things, shuffled, and the team puts them in order by the rule on the card, such as oldest first or north to south.

Is this the same as a which came first question?

No. Which came first asks for one answer out of two or four. Here the answer is the whole sequence, so a team has to place all four things, not just spot the oldest.

Where do the dates and sizes come from?

From the English Wikipedia article on each thing, read on October 8, 2026. City order uses the coordinates in each city's article, and two places less than a degree apart are never on one card.
