How it works

These mermaid baby shower games are three sheets to print and two lists of party games. Guests name a baby seal, call true or false on sea parents, or unscramble words from the sea. The sheets print plain, without pictures.

Print a sheet for each guest

Sea babies comes up first: 15 sea animals, each with a line to write on. The answers print on a last page; keep that one for the host. The other two sheets are Sea parents, true or false and Under-the-sea word scramble.

Under the sea baby shower games

For an under the sea shower the rows fit as they are: seals, seahorses, whales and words from the shore. The printed heading still says mermaid, and one scramble word is MERMAID; the × beside it takes it off the sheet.

Nautical baby shower games

Nautical party games lists eight played with boats, knots and anchors, such as a paper boat race, untie the knots and message in a bottle. The word scramble has a sailor's four: anchor, compass, sailboat and lighthouse.

  • Baby puffin and baby octopus are the stumpers. The answer page gives a second word to count as right for each.
  • Fishing for pacifiers, sink or float and the paper boat race each need a tub of water: set them up outdoors or on a towel.

Questions and answers

What games can you play at a mermaid baby shower?

Ten are on the Mermaid party games list, among them pearl hunt, fishing for pacifiers, find the pearl under three shells, hot starfish and a mermaid tail race. Each is a classic party game played with a sea prop.

Are these mermaid baby shower games free?

Yes. Every sheet and both game lists print free from this page with no sign-up, in as many copies as you have guests.

What is a baby seal called?

A pup. So are a baby shark, a baby sea lion and a baby stingray. A baby walrus, manatee or narwhal is a calf, and a baby puffin is a puffling. All 15 are on the Sea babies sheet.

Do male seahorses give birth?

Yes. The female puts her eggs in the male's brood pouch and he carries them until the young are born, as NOAA's National Ocean Service describes. It is the first line of the true or false sheet.

How this list was compiled: Own work: five lists written for this page. The 15 young names were read on 8 October 2026 in Wikipedia's List of animal names and the animal's own article (text under CC BY-SA 4.0), on NOAA Fisheries species pages for the sea turtle, sea lion and narwhal, and in the American Heritage Dictionary, under pup, for the shark. The 12 true-or-false lines were read the same day on the NOAA Fisheries page for each species, the seahorse line on NOAA's National Ocean Service page 'How do seahorses differ from all other animals?' and the shark line on the NOAA Fisheries feature '12 Shark Facts That May Surprise You'. The scramble words and their meanings are from the American Heritage Dictionary. The party games are versions of classic games and have no source. Licence: own work
