Three missions
The page opens Indoors, for a superhero birthday treasure hunt around the house: seven rhymes and a last clue. Backyard runs from the biggest tree to the swing. Villain's code is for heroes who can read: the first letters of each silly note spell the place, so Sneaky Otters Find Apples is SOFA.
Set the trail
Write the treasure's place in the blank of the last clue. Press Print and cut the clues apart. Hide them from the end to the start, and hand the first to the birthday child.
- Have the heroes act each power on the way: tiptoe for shrink power, arms out to fly.
- A towel makes a cape. Clip it to the shirt with clothespins and never tie it at the neck.
Questions and answers
How do you make a superhero treasure hunt for a birthday?
Tell the guests a villain took the party treasure and left clues behind. Print eight, hide each one where the clue before it points, and put the treasure at the last stop.
What can the treasure be?
Party bags, the birthday cake, a wrapped present, or a box of capes and masks to put on for the rest of the party.
What age are superhero clues like these for?
Ages 4 to 9. The rhymes name each hiding place, so younger heroes follow by listening while an older guest reads. The coded notes need a hero who can read and spell.
