Questions and answers
What is on the ocean bingo cards?
One hundred squares in four lists of 25: fish such as Clownfish and Whale shark; shore finds such as Hermit crab and Sand dollar; Blue whale, Narwhal and the deep-sea Giant squid; and storybook squares such as Mermaid, Trident and Treasure chest.
Are there pictures on the ocean bingo cards?
No. The squares hold words, so each player reads or sits beside a reader. The cards print as plain outlines, two to a page.
Is a starfish a fish?
No, and neither is a jellyfish or a cuttlefish, so none is in Fish and sharks. Every square there is a fish, Whale shark included: the largest fish alive. Each animal's place was checked against its English Wikipedia article on October 8, 2026.
How this list was compiled: Our own list, written for this page on 2026-10-08 in four parts of 25 squares; these are our suggestions, and nothing was copied from another bingo card. No film, show, book character or brand is named: the storybook squares are plain sea-story things. No square carries a clue. How the animals are sorted was checked on 2026-10-08 against the English Wikipedia article of each animal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ followed by its name; Angelfish on Pomacanthidae, Pufferfish on Tetraodontidae, Beluga on Beluga whale, Conch shell on Conch, Cowrie shell on Cowrie, Gulper eel on Pelican eel, Blowhole on Blowhole (anatomy), Whale song on Whale vocalization): all 25 squares of Fish and sharks are fish (the rays and sharks are cartilaginous fish; Whale shark is the largest known living fish species); Starfish, Jellyfish and Cuttlefish are not fish (an echinoderm, a cnidarian and a mollusc) and sit in other lists; the eleven whales, dolphins and the porpoise of the third list are cetaceans, and Orca is the largest member of the oceanic dolphin family; Lanternfish, Viperfish, Gulper eel, Giant squid and Vampire squid are deep-water animals, and so are the deep-sea kinds of Anglerfish (its article names shallow-water kinds too). The ways to win named on the page (a row, a column or a diagonal; the center square of a 5 x 5 card is free) were checked against https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bingo_(American_version) on 2026-10-08.
