Five rounds, from the bell to the moose test
Name and build sorts the moose from the elk and the wapiti. Antlers tells a butterfly from a seashell and asks where the velvet has gone by September. Food, water and swimming follows the animal to a lake bottom for its sodium. Calves, calls and enemies meets the Siberian tiger and the orca. Range, history and people runs from a Roman account to Newfoundland.

Questions and answers
What is the difference between a moose and an elk?
In British English there is none: the moose, Alces alces, is called an elk. In North American English, elk means a different deer, Cervus canadensis, also called the wapiti.
Can moose swim?
Yes. Moose are excellent swimmers. They wade into water to eat aquatic plants and have been known to dive over 5.5 meters (18 feet) to reach plants on a lake bottom.
Why do moose lose their antlers?
Bulls drop their antlers after the mating season to conserve energy for the winter. A new set regrows in the spring and takes three to five months to develop fully.
How were the answers checked?
