Questions and answers

What is the difference between a frog and a toad?

There is no formal one. Every animal in the order Anura is a frog. Land species with dry, warty skin tend to be called toads, and only the family Bufonidae are considered true toads.

Do frogs have teeth?

Most do. Frogs have weak maxillary teeth along the upper jaw that grip food until it is swallowed. They cannot chew with them, and catch prey with a sticky tongue instead.

How far can a frog jump?

For their size, frogs out-jump every other animal with a backbone. The striped rocket frog can leap two meters.

How were the answers checked?

Each was read on October 3, 2026 in the English Wikipedia article Frog, linked under every question. Species counts, size records, frogs as food, and toxins as drugs or medicine are left out.

How this list was compiled

Written for this site; nothing was copied from another list. Questions and wrong choices are our own. Each explanation restates, in our own sentences, a fact from the English Wikipedia article named and linked beside the question (https://en.wikipedia.org, text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license): Frog. On October 3, 2026 the passage that states each fact was read in that article before the question was kept. Left out on purpose: counts of species and of frogs under threat, size records, mating, frogs as food, toxins as drugs or medicine, dissection, and the passages on living faiths. Toads are frogs by classification and are asked in every round. Levels are our estimate: easy is fair for any table, medium suits people who know the animal, hard will stump most tables. Unofficial, and not advice on keeping, feeding or approaching an animal. Licence: own work
