Not in the usual sense. Both are great apes. Traditionally every simian except the apes is counted as a monkey, though in everyday speech the two words are often used interchangeably.

What is the smallest monkey?

The pygmy marmoset, which can be as small as 117 millimeters long with a 172 millimeter tail and weigh just over 100 grams. The largest monkey is the male mandrill, almost a meter long.

Do gorillas build nests?

Yes. Gorillas build nests for day and night use, tend to sleep on the ground, and make a new nest each day. Orangutans construct sleeping nests each night from branches and foliage.

How were the answers checked?

Each was read on October 3, 2026 in the English Wikipedia article linked under it: Monkey, Gorilla or Orangutan. Counts of wild apes, record-holding animals, living researchers, films and modern stories are left out.

How this list was compiled

Written for this site; nothing was copied from another list. Questions and wrong choices are our own. Each explanation restates, in our own sentences, a fact from the English Wikipedia article named and linked beside the question (https://en.wikipedia.org, text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license): Monkey, Gorilla and Orangutan. On October 3, 2026 the passage that states each fact was read in its article before the question was kept. Gorillas and orangutans are apes, not monkeys in the usual sense; they have rounds here because people look for them beside the monkeys. Left out on purpose: counts of wild apes and their conservation listings, record-holding animals, living researchers, mating, and films, shows and modern stories. Levels are our estimate: easy is fair for any table, medium suits people who know the animal, hard will stump most tables. Unofficial, and not advice on keeping, feeding or approaching an animal.
