Five rounds for a beach day or a rainy one
Sand, shells and what washes up asks which fish makes white sand and what a mermaid's purse is. Tides and waves at the shore uses NOAA's own pages: the King Tide, the neap tide, the speed of a rip current. Seaside history rolls out the bathing machine and the first resort.

How this list was compiled
Written for this site; nothing was copied from another list. Questions and wrong choices are our own. Each explanation restates, in our own sentences, facts from the page named and linked beside it. Each answer was checked on 2026-10-02 against that page, fetched that day: five fact pages of the National Ocean Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (https://oceanservice.noaa.gov: sand, rip currents, spring and neap tides, barrier islands and sea foam) and three National Park Service pages (https://www.nps.gov: the horses of Assateague and the questions pages of Cape Hatteras and Padre Island national seashores) for 17 of the 60 questions; the English Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org, text under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license) for the rest. This pack keeps to the shoreline. Left out on purpose because other trivia sets on this site already ask them: what causes the tides and the time between them, which way a rip current flows, what sea glass and seashells start as, the sand dollar's relatives, the first boardwalk, and beach volleyball at the Olympics. Also left out: swimming, sun and first-aid advice, and visitor numbers. A story the page calls folklore is asked as folklore. Levels are our estimate: easy is fair for any table, medium suits a seaside family, hard will stump most tables. Each round is stored easiest first, and each question carries the date its page was read. Licence: own work
