How it works

These virtual spirit week ideas are built for a camera frame: what you wear from the shoulders up, what hangs behind you and what you hold to the lens. Each ends with one thing to do on the call.

A week for a class or a team

Press Pick 5 new days and Lock the ones that fit your group. The menu under the button sorts by camera, background, show-and-tell and make-it days. Under More filters, For keeps the days written for a class or for a work team.

What makes a day work on a call

Everyone has to see it in a small tile, so each day is one thing near the face or on the wall. Each line closes with a shared moment: a screenshot, a vote in the chat box, a count of three.

Tips
  • Send the theme the afternoon before, so a paper crown or a backdrop can be made in time.
  • Nobody has to show a room. A background day works with one sheet of paper taped behind a chair.

Questions and answers

How do you do spirit week virtually?

Pick themes that show in a video tile: a hat, a color, a drawing taped to the wall, an object held up. Open each call with one minute in which everyone shows theirs at once.

What are virtual spirit week ideas for a work team?

Top-Half Formal Day, Job Title Badge Day, Desk Buddy Day and Keyboard Shortcut Day suit a team call. Set For to A work team to see the rest.

What are virtual spirit week ideas for students?

Animal Ears on Camera Day, Blanket Fort Day, Sock Puppet Day and Five-Second Concert Day were written for a class. Set For to A class.

Do virtual spirit days need supplies?

Nothing has to be bought. The make-it days use paper, tape, foil and a sock, and the rest use clothes, books and objects already in the house.

All 61 days

Camera days 16

  • Animal Ears on Camera Day Paper ears on a headband or on your headset. Each person makes the animal's sound once, then mutes.
  • Bow Tie and Hair Bow Day A bow where the camera can see it: at the neck, in the hair or on a headset. Count the bows across the gallery.
  • Cape in the Frame Day A towel or a scarf tied as a cape, and a paper emblem on your chest. Say your invented hero name when you unmute.
  • Color of the Morning Day The host names a color when the call opens. You have one minute to come back wearing it and holding one thing in it.
  • Decade From the Shoulders Up Day A headband, a collar, a hairstyle or glasses from one decade. The others guess the decade in the chat box.
  • Decorated Headset Day Dress the headphones or the headset: paper horns, flowers, a paper crown clipped across the band. Turn side-on together for the screenshot.
  • Gallery Rainbow Day Each person is given a color ahead of time. Line the tiles up in rainbow order if your call lets the host arrange them.
  • Hat Parade Day Everyone wears a hat. The host calls names in turn, and each person leans in to the lens for two seconds.
  • One-Color Gallery Day Everybody wears a top in one agreed color, so the whole grid turns that color. Take the screenshot before anyone moves.
  • Pajama Top and Mug Day A pajama top or a robe, and the mug you drink from at home. Hold the mugs up together for the first hello.
  • Scarf Five Ways Day One scarf, worn a different way each time the host says switch: neck, hair, shoulders, wrist, headset.
  • Shades On Day Sunglasses from the first minute. On the host's count, everyone lowers them at once.
  • Stripes on Every Screen Day Stripes in any direction on every tile. Count who wore the widest and who wore the thinnest.
  • Top-Half Formal Day A blazer, a tie or a string of beads above the desk, and whatever you like below it. Vote in the chat box for the sharpest collar.
  • Twin Tiles Day Two people agree on the same top and the same pose, and try to stay in step all through the call.
  • Wig or Wild Hair Day A wig, or your own hair gelled, clipped and braided as high as it will go. Freeze for one group screenshot.

Background days 14

  • Balloon Wall Day Blow up whatever balloons are in the drawer and tape them behind you. Count the colors across the whole gallery.
  • Blanket Fort Day Join from inside a fort of blankets and chairs, lit by a flashlight. Each builder names the fort when called on.
  • Book Spine Poem Day Stack books so the titles on their spines read as a short poem, top to bottom, and hold the stack to the lens.
  • Different Chair Day Join from a seat nobody on the call has seen you in: the porch step, the kitchen stool, the floor by a bookcase. The others guess where you are sitting.
  • Flashlight Story Day Lights off, one flashlight each, pointed at the ceiling. Tell a story together, a sentence from each tile in turn.
  • Glow Behind You Day Hang a string of lights or set a lamp behind you. On the host's word, every room light goes off and the tiles glow.
  • Hand-Drawn Backdrop Day Draw a scene and hang it behind your chair: a beach, a castle, the surface of the moon. The others guess where you are.
  • Map on the Wall Day Tape a map or a postcard behind you and point to the place you would go tomorrow if you could.
  • Plant Corner Day Carry every plant in the house into the frame. Introduce the oldest one by name.
  • Poster Wall Day Hang one poster or drawing behind you that says something about you, and give its story in one sentence.
  • Sideways Camera Day Tip the phone or the laptop so you appear sideways, and carry on as if nothing were odd. Wave together at the end and see which way the hands go.
  • Team Colors Backdrop Day Hang anything in the school or team colors behind you: towels, shirts, a paper chain. Finish with the cheer, cameras on.
  • Tidy Shelf Day Arrange one shelf behind you on a theme: all blue things, all round things, all gifts. The others guess the theme.
  • Window View Day Without moving the camera, say one thing you can see through your window that nobody else on the call can.

Show-and-tell days 16

  • Collection Day Three pieces from something you collect: rocks, pins, postcards, bottle caps. The others vote on which to hear about.
  • Desk Buddy Day The small figure, plant or toy that lives beside your screen. Give it a name if it has none, and let it wave goodbye for you.
  • Favorite Book Cover Day Hold up a book you would lend to anyone on the call, and say who should borrow it first.
  • Five-Second Concert Day Bring a noisemaker from around the house: a pot lid, a rubber band on a box, two spoons. Each person plays for five seconds.
  • Fridge Door Day Bring one thing from the fridge door to the camera: a magnet, a postcard, a school menu. Tell why it earned its place.
  • Hobby in Hand Day Show one thing you use outside school or work: an instrument, a ball, a ball of yarn, a fishing lure.
  • Keyboard Shortcut Day Share your screen for ten seconds and show the one shortcut or trick you use most. The chat box votes for the most useful.
  • Lucky Charm Day The small thing you keep for luck, or the closest you have. Hold it to the lens and tell about one day it worked.
  • Lunch Reveal Day Tilt the camera to your plate for five seconds. No cooking needed: a sandwich counts.
  • Mystery Kitchen Tool Day Bring the oddest tool from the kitchen drawer. The others guess what it is for before you tell them.
  • Oldest Thing on the Desk Day Hold up the oldest object within reach and tell where it came from.
  • Pet on Camera Day Bring a pet into the frame, or a toy one if the house has none, and introduce it by name and age.
  • Photo of Younger You Day Hold a childhood photo to the lens. The others guess how old you were.
  • Shoes Up Day Nobody sees shoes on a call, so everyone holds one up to the lens at the same moment.
  • Smallest Trophy Day Any ribbon, medal or certificate you have kept, the smaller the better. Hold it up and say what it was for.
  • Souvenir Day Something brought home from a trip, even a short one. Say where, and who was with you.

Make-it days 15

  • Desk Mascot Day Build a mascot from what is on the desk: paper clips, tape, an eraser. Tell the call its name.
  • Flag of Me Day Draw a flag that stands for you and explain one color and one shape on it.
  • Foil Trophy Day Shape a trophy from kitchen foil and award it, out loud, to someone else on the call.
  • Goodbye Sign Day Make a sign for the end of the call. Everyone holds theirs up together as the host closes.
  • Job Title Badge Day Make a paper badge with a job title you invented for yourself: Chief Snack Officer, Head of Naps. Read the titles out in turn.
  • Name Sign Day Letter your name on a sheet in the boldest style you can and hold it under your chin for the screenshot.
  • One Letter Each Day Each person makes one big letter of the school or team name. Hold them up in order across the gallery.
  • Paper Airplane Day Fold a plane before the call. On the host's count of three, every plane flies at the lens.
  • Paper Crown Day Cut and color a crown before the call. One by one, each person is crowned by the person who spoke before.
  • Paper Glasses Day Cut frames from paper or bend them from pipe cleaners: stars, hearts, squares. Everyone puts them on at the count of three.
  • Reaction Paddle Day Make paper paddles on craft sticks: a thumbs-up, a question mark, clapping hands. Hold them up in place of clicking.
  • Sixty-Second Portrait Day Draw the person in the tile beside yours in one minute and hold the portrait up.
  • Snack Plate Face Day Build a face from crackers, fruit or cereal, hold the plate up for the screenshot, then have it as your snack.
  • Sock Puppet Day Make a puppet from a sock and two paper eyes. The puppet says your hello for you.
  • Sticky Note Mural Day Build a picture on the wall behind you from sticky notes: a heart, a letter, a pixel face. The others guess what it is.
How this list was compiled

Written on 2026-10-03 by the editors of Game Night Generator for classes and work teams that meet on a video call. Every one of the 61 days is planned for what a camera shows, the head, the shoulders and the wall behind, and uses things already in the house. Each line ends with something to do together on the call. No call software, app or product is named, nobody is asked to show a room they would rather keep private, and no day needs anything bought. Days marked for a class were read as if a teacher of young children were running the call. Licence: own work
