How it works

These end of the year spirit week ideas are for the days after the books are turned in. Some look back, such as Picture Day, Take Two. Others count down, from Perfect Ten Day to Empty Backpack Day.

A countdown to the last day of school

The ten-day countdown fills the last eleven school days: ten outfits that play on the number of days still to go, then Empty Backpack Day. With more time, the ABC countdown gives every letter a day. Count back 26 school days, the last one included, to find the day for A.

Spirit days for the last week of school

For a single week, mix the kinds: one memory day, one moving-up day, one day that looks ahead to summer and a field day in class colors. Keep a day everyone can join without planning, such as Rewind Day, for the last morning.

  • Send the whole week home on one sheet. Families are packing up too, and a day announced the night before gets missed.
  • Choose days that need nothing stored at school. By the last week, lockers and cubbies are being emptied.
