Each idea is tagged with the crowds it suits (pub quiz, family, work, classroom) and with how much work the round is to write; both tags are editorial judgments, not measurements. No idea is named after a franchise, a show, a band or a brand, no claim is made that any category is the most popular, and the two facts used as examples (a young goat is a kid; a pride of lions, a murder of crows) are standard dictionary usage. The list holds 180 round ideas and no questions: 80 subject categories, 60 round formats with the rule in one line, and 40 themes for a whole night. Build a line-up for your quiz night

Subjects, formats and themes

The list that reads All 180 narrows the deal to subjects, formats or themes. Subject categories run from broad (World capitals, Inventions) to narrow (Bridges and towers, Jobs that no longer exist), and most ideas for trivia categories start there. Round formats change how a round is played, not what it is about: Closest number wins, Put them in order, Linked answers. One or two among four subject rounds keep a night from feeling like a test. Whole-night themes name the rounds for you, so the trivia theme ideas suit a fundraiser, a birthday or a holiday party. Trivia topic ideas are the same list: to a quiz host, a topic and a category are one thing.

Fit the rounds to the room

Open More filters under the list. The first row sets the crowd: Pub quiz, Family, Work or Classroom. Every idea is tagged with each crowd it suits, by our judgment and not by measurement. The trivia ideas for work leave out rounds written for children and rounds only a family can answer, and Your company carries a reminder to ask before using anything personal. Family brings fun trivia ideas that a seven-year-old and a grandparent can share, such as Baby animal names and Mystery bag.
