Louisiana trivia questions in four rounds

Mounds, explorers and French Louisiana starts at Watson Brake, about 3500 BC. Spanish years and the Purchase asks who made the offer of 1803 and whose flag came down first. Statehood to the 20th century runs from 1812 to 1974. Rivers, coast and wild places is the one round that is not history.

How this list was compiled

Written for this site; nothing was copied from another list. Every answer was read on October 3, 2026 in the English Wikipedia article Louisiana (text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license), which is linked beside each question; the questions, wrong choices and explanations are in our own words. The Civil War is asked as one date. Where a second Wikipedia article gave a detail differently, the question leaves that detail out. Left out on purpose: population figures and ranks, health and crime rankings, the slave trade, hurricanes and their tolls, land-loss figures, current office-holders, living people, sports teams, companies and brands, and weather records. Carnival has a pack of its own on this site and is not asked here. Levels are our estimate: easy is fair for any table, medium suits people who know the state, hard will stump most tables.
