How this list was compiled: Our own list, written for this page: 50 award titles for a charity golf tournament or a club outing, ten in each of five groups, each with the reason under it. Nothing is copied from another list. The golf terms in the reasons (gross and net score, handicap, birdie, par, sand save, worm burner, Texas wedge, chip, lag, break, pitch mark, dogleg, tap-in and gimme) were checked on 15 October 2026 against Wikipedia's Glossary of golf (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_golf), the scramble format against Wikipedia's Variations of golf (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variations_of_golf), the mulligan against Wikipedia's Mulligan (games) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulligan_(games)) and the warning shout against Wikipedia's Fore (golf) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fore_(golf)). Every award praises a shot, a habit or a kindness; none is about looks, body, age, clothes, beliefs or what a player earns or owns, none is about drinking or betting, and none works only as a put-down. No brand, course, tour, company or real person is named, and no title repeats one on another award list on this site. Licence: own work

Golf tournament awards for low gross and low net

Low gross, low net and contests holds the awards a tournament gives on the numbers. Gross is the strokes a player took; net is that score after handicap strokes come off, so a low net award gives players of every level a chance. The longest drive and closest to the pin contests each need a hole chosen before play starts.

Good awards for a charity golf tournament

Charity day and good company thanks the people who made the day: the volunteer who arrived first, the hole sponsor, the team that collected the most pledges. The other three groups are the stories of the round, from the tee, the rough and sand, and the green. Most laugh with a player about one shot.

  • Ask each group to write one nomination on the back of its scorecard before handing it in.
