How this list was compiled: An original list of October 2026: rhymes that lead to the parts of a snowman, hidden around a home or a classroom before the hunt. Six rhymes each lead to the hat, the scarf, the eyes, the carrot nose, the buttons and the stick arms, 36 in all, and no two name the same hiding place. Ten last clues send the hunters to build: five at a table or a door, from paper, and five outdoors in real snow. Nothing was copied from another clue list, and the list states no facts. Every hiding place is one a child reaches from the floor: no stove, oven, garage, pool or road, and no clue asks anyone to climb. Sticks are carried pointing down and nobody runs with them. Licence: own work
How it works
Hide the parts of a snowman around the house, and these snowman scavenger hunt clues lead the children to each in turn: hat first, stick arms last. Then the final clue sends them to build him.

Paper or real snow
The page opens on Paper snowman: cut the parts from colored paper and set out three white circles and tape, at a table or on a door. In the snow ends outdoors, so hide a real hat, scarf and carrot, with bottle caps or dark stones for the eyes and buttons. Ages 3 to 5 is three parts and the build.
Lay the trail
Put each part where its rhyme says, with the next rhyme beside it: the scarf's clue waits with the hat. Press Print and cut the rhymes apart. Hand the first one to the children.
Give one child a bag for the parts. A carrot left on the stairs gets stepped on.
In a classroom, send a different table group to fetch each part.
Questions and answers
What do you need for a snowman scavenger hunt?
A hat, a scarf, a carrot, two sticks, and five bottle caps or dark stones for the eyes and buttons. For the paper version, cut the same parts from colored paper and add three white circles and a roll of tape.
How do you do a snowman hunt with no snow?
Stay on Paper snowman. The children collect paper parts and tape him together on a door or a table. For a bigger build, stack three white pillows and dress them in the real hat and scarf.
What age are these snowman clues for?
Ages 3 to 8. Every rhyme names its hiding place, so a child who cannot read yet follows it by listening. The shortest trail, Ages 3 to 5, has three parts: the hat, the scarf and the nose.
