Five rounds, head to hoof
Name and family unpicks camelopard and follows the family into Africa. Neck, head and coat covers ossicones, the black tongue and the one-of-a-kind coat. Heart, legs and movement asks how blood reaches the brain and how the legs move. Feeding, herds and calves has acacias, oxpeckers and the calving pool. Questions and answers
How long is a giraffe's neck?
Up to 2.4 meters (7.9 feet). The length comes from very long neck bones, each over 28 centimeters, and not from extra ones; most of the lengthening happens after birth.
What are the horns on a giraffe called?
Ossicones. Both sexes have them. They are formed from cartilage that has turned to bone, covered in skin and fused to the skull, and they can reach 13.5 centimeters.
How do giraffes sleep?
Briefly. Studies in captivity found about 4.6 hours a day, mostly at night and mostly lying down. In short spells of deep sleep a giraffe bends its neck back and rests its head on its hip or thigh.
How were the answers checked?
Each was read on October 3, 2026 in the English Wikipedia article Giraffe, which every question links. Counts of giraffes, conservation listings and the fights between males are left out.
