Team Charades Ideas: Everyone Acts, One Player Guesses: how it works

These 194 team charades ideas turn the usual game around: the whole team acts one card and a single teammate guesses, the format often called reverse charades. One word falls flat with five actors, so every card is a scene for several bodies, such as a rowing crew or a zipper closing. Press Start round and hold the phone where only the actors can see it.

How a team round works

Split into two or more teams. One player turns away to guess. Press Start round and show the card to the others, who act it together in silence. Tap Next card after each correct guess and Skip when a scene stalls. At time, the deck shows how many cards the team cleared: tap +1 once for each.

Why a team needs scenes, not words

Five people acting Banana do the same thing five times. A scene gives everyone a part: in A claw machine grabbing a prize, most of the team sits in a heap as prizes and one player is the claw. Easy here means one motion done together, and 48 cards are that simple. The 95 Medium cards share out roles. The 51 Hard cards build one object from bodies, such as A foosball table, and deserve 90 s.

Tips

  • The list under the tool prints a staging hint below each scene. Under A row of dominoes: Each player sinks to a crouch just after the one before.
  • Let the team cast itself in silence. A quick point at who is the claw and who is a prize saves half the clock.
  • Most of these team charades ideas need three actors or more. With fewer, play as one team against the clock and rotate the guesser.

Questions and answers

Is this the same as reverse charades?

It is the same format: the whole team acts one card and one teammate guesses. Silence, the timer and one point for a correct guess stay as in the usual game. A boxed party game is sold under that name. This page is an independent deck with its own scenes and is not connected with that game or its makers.

How many players does it take?

Six is a comfortable minimum: two teams of three, so two act while one guesses. Cards such as A stadium crowd doing the wave or A conga line want five or more. The deck scores up to four teams.

Can kids play these team scenes?

Yes. Every scene is clean and needs no film or song. Start on Easy with Herds, flocks and swarms: Ducklings following their mother takes no explaining. The hints keep all feet on the floor. For one-word cards, use the charades generator for kids.

How this list was compiled: Written for this site by the editors; nothing was copied from another list, from a boxed game or from its cards. Every card is a scene that needs several bodies at once, so that a whole team can act it while one teammate guesses: a crew, a crowd, a herd, or one machine built from players. The staging hint under each card in the list keeps everybody on the floor: no lifts, no pyramids, no climbing and no falls. The deck was checked against the site's family-safe rule (nothing sexual, no alcohol or drugs, nothing that mocks a person or a group, no real people) and holds no film, show, book or song titles and no brand names. Difficulty is an editor's judgment: easy is one motion the whole team does together, medium gives the players two or three different roles, hard asks the team to build one object from bodies or to play several beats in order. The team format itself (the team acts, one player guesses, one point for each correct guess) is given on the page as a way the game is played at home, not as an official rule: Wikipedia's article on charades, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charades, read 2026-09-19, says only that the game's rules can vary widely, that a correct guess scores a point, and that 'A variant was to have teams who acted scenes out together while the others guessed.' Ten scenes that belong in any charades box, such as A tug of war and Musical chairs, are also in this site's main charades deck, and A rainbow after the rain is also in the Easter deck. The other 183 are in no other charades deck on the site. Licence: own work
