How it works

Each of these day camp theme weeks names an activity for all five days, so a week can go straight onto the calendar. They are summer camp weekly themes for a camp that sends everyone home by evening: no campfire, no lake, no overnight.

Summer camp themes and descriptions for the flyer

Each theme's five-day line is its description. Copy it into the summer flyer as it stands, or trade one day for a field trip. The weeks are sorted by kind, so a season can alternate: a nature week, then a sports week, then a water week when the heat arrives.

Camp week themes for the first and last weeks

Welcome Week is name games and a tour, for the Monday when nobody knows anybody. Back-to-School Countdown Week closes the summer with bookmarks, a backpack relay and goodbye autographs. Camp Spirit Week is the one dress-up week, with a backwards day and a twin day in it.

  • Friday is the day families remember. Give it the show, the parade or the fair, and invite them.

Questions and answers

What are good summer day camp weekly themes?

Themes with enough to do for five days: Bug Safari Week, Kitchen Science Week, Camp Games Week, Splash Week and Pirate Week. Each ends on a Friday to look forward to, such as a butterfly parade, a boat race or a medal ceremony.

What are camp week themes that need few supplies?

Yard Games Week, Teamwork Week, Dance Week and Campers' Choice Week run on what most camps already own: balls, beanbags, chalk, music and a field.

What are summer camp weekly themes for a rainy week?

Weeks that fit indoors: On Stage Week, Talent Show Week, Comic Book Week, Game Show Week and Magic Week. Each ends in a Friday show, final or swap that needs no field.

What is a good theme for the last week of camp?

Best of Summer Week. Campers vote, and each day replays a favorite game, craft or water day. Thursday is for memory books and autographs, Friday for awards and a slide show.

How this list was compiled: Own list, written for this page on 2026-10-08: whole-week themes for a summer day camp, each with an activity for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The activities use what a day camp has on hand (cardboard, chalk, a sandbox, a hose, a field), and none needs a campfire, a lake or an overnight stay. No week is named after a film, a show, a brand, a team or a real person, no week asks anyone to dress as a culture, and no activity uses a mask or a toy weapon. The page states no fact that needs a source. Licence: own work
