My Pet's Secret Life
Everyone thinks my pet hamster, Mister Whiskers, sleeps all day. Everyone is wrong.
The second we leave for the supermarket, Mister Whiskers puts on an enormous hat and starts juggling. By nine o'clock the house is full of 12 neighborhood pigeons, all of them eating spaghetti and shouting "yee-haw."
At noon Mister Whiskers goes to work as a dentist. The customers say the service is polite but the office smells like pickles.
In the afternoon there is a nap on my pillow, a snack, and a lesson in how to yodel loudly.
When we get home, everything is fluffy and quiet again. The only clue is a bright pink feather on the floor and a kazoo where my big toe expects a slipper.
