How it works

A farm visit has more to find than animals. This farm scavenger hunt holds 60 finds in the barn, the pens, the fields, the machine shed and the farm stand, scored 1 to 3 points.

Pick the lists your farm can supply

A pick-your-own field suits Fields and crops and Farm stand and senses; a farm park suits Animals at work and Barn and yard. Choose one in the menu beside the main button, then press Print this list, or tick finds off on the phone.

The farmer's rules come first

Every find is scored by looking. Nobody climbs a machine, a bale or a gate, touches a fence, goes into a pen or feeds an animal unless the farmer says so, and everyone washes hands after the animals.

Tips
  • Ask the farmer for one find before you start: the answer to Something the farmer says you have never heard before is worth three points.

Questions and answers

What can kids find on a farm?

A sliding barn door, a hen sitting in a nest box, goats standing on something high, a scarecrow with a hat and a tractor with bigger back wheels than front. Most farms have many of them.

How is it different from the zoo hunt's farm list?

The zoo list looks at animal features in a petting zoo. This one covers the whole working farm: barns, crops, machines and the farm stand, with animals at work rather than on show.

How do you score it with a class or a big family?

Each line carries 1, 2 or 3 points at the start of its note. A find counts when the whole team has seen it; add up at the farm stand before you leave.

How this list was compiled: Written for this site by its editors in September 2026: 60 original finds for a visit to a working farm, a farm park or a pick-your-own field. Nothing was copied from another list, and no farm or brand is named. No outside page was read for it: the notes are judging rules, not facts. Every find is scored by looking unless the farmer invites more: nobody climbs on machines, bales or gates, touches a fence that might be electric, goes into a pen, or feeds an animal without the farmer's say; hands are washed after the animal areas; children stay with their grown-up. Points and levels are the editors' judgment. Licence: own work
